SPORTING.

TRAINING NOTES. (Per Press Association..) Christohurcb, last night. After tho fog cleared at about 5.30 this morning the weather was perfect for training operations. All work waß done on the outside grass track, which was very holding after yesterdays’ rain. Signalman, with a big advantage in tho weights, was a good match for Cannie Chiel over a mile and a quarter in 2.20. Tessera and Chryseis separately did five furlongs round the back. Lady Wayward and Ordnance galloped from a mile and a quarter to the half-mile post. The fog prevented these horses being timed. Ability went six furlODgs in 1.22, with about 8.7 up, a fairly good performance. Golden Vein went seven furlongs in not doing his best. Somoroff and Natalie ran six furlongs round the back, the last four in 57£. Tirole (Derrett) easily beat Sea Lion (T. ''Thomson) over miles in 2.22 3-5. The latter shaped indifferently. Quiokfire held Czarevna Bafe over six furlongs in 1.24. Pensive went the same distance round the back in 1.22, a good gallop. Stepdaneer (F. Thompson) went a mile and a quarter the first two furlongs in 27 1-5, four in 54 4-5, six in 123 1-5, the full distance in 2.19. The little mare went well. . Master Alix ran six furlongs comfortably in 1.21. He had about 9.0 up, and is evidently fit. After breakfast Glenowlet had Gay Spark at his mercy for five furlongs up the baok in 1.7 3-5. Delarey, King’s Guest and Carlo have arrived, and were out cantering. There was little to choose between Merrymaker and Prince Loris at the end of a mile in 1.52. Ronga and Wet Blanket took 1.8 to run five furlongs. Both were all out. Manjess spurted over half a raile in 54.
