(Per Press Association.) .ti| Palmerston North, last night. '** The Manawatu ram fair opened to-day in splendid weather. Entries were present from some of the best flocks in the colony. Mutton classes only ,vero offered, out of»whieh flocks Southdowns and Border Leicesters were in strong demand. Prices for the former ranged from 3igns to 54-gns, and fGr the latter from 4gns to 6i-gns. English Leicesters and shires fetched current prices,* but were. ' only in fair demand. Of tho stud rafifei offered Shropshires were sold at frtrtn 7£gns to 15gns.
