(Per Press Association.) Wellington, last night. A fire was discovered in Levin and Co.’s large warehouse early last ovening. It op pears to have broken out among the cotton waste on the top floor, and was kept in check by tho employees until tho arrival of the brigade. Very little damage was done. About .£25,000 worth of wool was stored on the floor where the outbreak occurred. A carpenter named Henry Spencer, a single man, employed by tho City Corporation, was knocked down by an electrio car at Courtenay Placo crossing, and escaped fatal injuries by the speedy application of tho brakes and tho life saving apparatus attached to tho front of tho car. Ho sufferod rather severe injuries to the head. Fineß amounting to £75, with costs, £8 10s, were imposed this morning on three Chinamen for having opium on their premises. Tho fines were promptly paid.
