ST. PATRICK’S SPORTS.

The preliminary meeting in connection with the annual meeting of the above sports was held last evening in the Masonic Hotel, the Rev. Father Mulvihill being in the chair. Girls’ Handicap (under 14), 100yds— First 10s, second 5a ; entrance Is. St. Patrick’s Handicap, of L2O; to be run in three distances, viz, 100yds, 220yds, and 440yds, with prizes for each distance and an aggregate prize of a gold medal suitably inscribed. There must be three entries for all dancing competitions, otherwise they will not eventuate. There will be games and amusements for the childron under the supervision of Mr Hackett, and every child will receive a prize. The Band will be in attendance.

Entries for the hoys’ and girls’ races, the pony race, the half mile and threequartermile scurries, tbo pole jump, Siamese race, horse jumping, and dancing competitions, will be received by the secretaries on the ground not later than half an hour before the time of starting, and the other entries close with Mr Ed. Williams at his shop at 10 p.m. on Saturday, March 11th, Horse events will be run under Metropolitan rules.
