INQUISITIVE BOY.
PLAYING WITH EXPLOSIVES. (Per Press Association.) Christchurch, last night. A boy named Sydney Charles Fowke, son of J. M. Fowke, the Wbll-known cricketer, attempted /to explode or-patrol tin containing carbide by throwing a lightcS.rnatch in it. - " X deafening report followed, and tho top of the tin was blown off with great force. Is struck the boy in the face, inflicting a horrible wound, extending from the nose right across the cheek. The nose was smashed in, and tbs lad for a time was uueonscious. He is now in a serious condition at the hospital.
