' An exhibition in connection with the technical school was opened yesterday afternoon by tho Governor. In the course of his remarks, the Governor dwelt upon the lack of proper accommodation for the carrying out of the work ofjthe school, and strongly urged that steps should be taken to secure an up-to-date building for the city. His Exoollenoy announced that a citizen who desired that his name should Dot be mentioned' had offered to give £SOO towards this object if four others would each contribute.a like amount. John Munro, an elderly resident of Kybor Pass, owed his life to a tram lifoguard to-day. Ho walked straight in front of a.tram-car while avoiding a cart in Queen street. The car was going at a fairly rapid rate, and travelled several yards before it was stopped, The lifeguard fortunately acted, Munro being pushed along tho street, escaping with severe cuts and bruises. At the University Senate meeting the question as to whether students arriving late should be disqualified at tho examinations was discussed .at length. It was agreed that no candidate bo allowed to enter or leave tho room after half an hour’s grace has oxpired. In the case of a oandidato who continued writing answers after he had been warned the time had expirod, the matter was referred to tbe Law Committee.
