LOCAL BODIES DISAGREE AS TO SHARE OE BURDEN.

A oonforenoo of local bodio3 in South Oantorbury was hold in Tirnaru to-day to deoido us to tho action to bo taken on a oertifioato from tho Health Department inquiring tho orectiou of an infuotious diseases hospital at Tiuiaru. Elovon delegates wore proaont, also Dr. Finch, district health oflieor. Aftor a long discussion the meeting failed to agroo on n basis for contributions, tho representatives of country districts contending that thoy should part with loss por bead of the population than dwollors in tho town, while tho town representatives claimed that tho population basis for tho whole of South Canterbury was most reasonable, Timnru huviug a fourth of tbo whole population of South Canterbury. It was shown that the total sum required from all tbo contributing bodies was only £7OO, tbo Hospital Board having obtained £I3OO from the sale of a reservo and £7OO Government subsidy. As no agreement was arrived at the caso now goes boforo a magistrate to adjust the proportions of payment.
