DAIRYING ASSOCIATION.

(Per Press Association.) Invercargill, last night. The annual meeting of members of the National Dairying Association was bold at Bluff to-day to sea Messrs Siogloton and Thornton grade 2191 cases of cheese and hear their oommont thereon. In the evening they met in town. Mr Kinsella wrote apologising for his absence through ill health, but hoped lator to come South and discuss the question of cool curing with factory managers. The quostion of contraiisiog shipments was considered. Mr Thornton Baid it paid to rail butter to Lyttelton, Mr Bowie (Tirnaru) suggested that port, but Mr Thornton opposed. The chairman, Mr Milne, said that Lyttelton was then the ooly port, but they could not afford to pay the present railway freight. A motion to again approach the Bail* way department with a view to the reduction of freight charges wa3 oarried. Xho matter ol fire insurance on factories came up, and a motion to approach the Government Fire Department re a reduction in the high rates paid to companies was tabled. Tbo secretary stated that one company bad favored the factories in the past, but when the other companies reduced their rates to tbo same level the directors transferred the insurances to those, and afterwards the rates were raised. The factories, therefore, had themaelvos to blame. . , The motion was rejected in favor of on amendment to give the companies, as well os the Government Department, an opportunity to quote lower rates. It was resolved to rocommend the conference in Juno to register the osoooiation under tbo Unclassified Societies Act, and that all material for factories within the association be indented through tho asso-' ci ttioo. Mr Henderson (of Henderson ana Badger) suggested the creation of exchanges in centres whore buyers could do business without visiting the individual factories. The Chairman said the matter was mos-, iinpoi taut-, and would bo noticed by the conference.
