! Sydney, Jan. 20. meeting of the Associated Colliery proprietors discussed the miners’ request for an open conference, and the wheelers' offer to accept five per cent reduction. They declined to grant request on the grounds that the proptietors had alreadytaken the steps sanctioned by the Arbitration Court, and under the circumstances they could not vary the conditions thoy had notified to the wheelers. This moans that the proprietors will not grant any concession in wages rates. Saundors, one of the wheelers- who struck at the Newcastle Company’s pit, was charged at the Newcastle Court with a broach of tho strike clauses of the Arbitration Act. Ho was committed for trial. Light bail was allowed. No other cases wore taken, ponding developments. The bulk was held over till Monday. The wheelers ore greatly disappointed at the owners’ decision.
