FOUR DESERTERS.

. (Per Press Association.) Napier, last night. Yesterday four seamon of the steamer South Australian were charged with deserting the vessel. They stated that they had left tho vessel because thoy failed to obtain extra assistance at Napier as promised, but that they were willing to return to the ship if this was done. They wero ordered to return to the ship and pay tho costs of the prosecution. To-day, however, they procured one of the ship’s boats and oleared away from the vessel. They pulled to the Petano boacb, whero they landed, loaving the boat on the beach. The police are searching for them, but so far have net succeeded in tracing them.
