The wool sales have opened strong, with a par to five per cent advance. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co.. Ltd., received tho following cablegram from their London, office yesterday :—“ Market opened strong for all sorts. As compared with laßt sale’s closing rates prices are from par to 5 per cent, higher for scoured merino, fine crossbred, and medium crossbred. Coarse crossbred is 5 per cent, higher." Received 9.4 p.m., Jan. 18. London, Jan *&-/'■- At the wool sales the two leading , offered 6058 bales of a represon; selection. There was a large attenc from all parts, with strong competitioi both merinos and crossbreds at a per above the closing prices of the Never sales. Americans are operating merinos.
