The nominations which closed Saturday night for the principal events of the Poverty Bay, Turf Club's annual meeting, to beheld on tho 10th and 17th of February next, prove the ever-increasing popularity of this goahead Club with horse-owners, there being a very substantial increaso on last year's nominations, which up till now Were the record for tho Club. lUnderwrititou are the details which speak for themselves. The course has been carefully looked •after, and is now. in splendid order, and the new road, now in course of making and the drainage scheme to be adopted at once, should, free tho Club from ever having a recurrence like the October, meeting, as regards the course, lawn* and saddling paddocks, It is to be hoped that a record meeting will 'ensue to enable the Club to make further extensive improvements to the Grand Stand, etc., now, under contemplation.
