NARROW ESCAPE OF WAINUI.

m, __ . Nolson, last night, -tho Waicm, from Woffington, bad a narrow escape this morning. _ Sho encountered a denso fog near tho broach Pass, and tho onpfcain dooidod to round D’Urville Island. At seven tho passongors woro startled oy tno ship striking rocks. Tho deob passengers, mails and some of tho orow woro sent away in boats. Tho soa was smooth, but tho ship had run up tho rook, and was considerably down by she stern. Fears wore ouiortained that sho mieht slip off and sink. b She was low in tho water nt eight, and at nine sho oamo off. Tho placo woro sho strnok is botwoon Stephens and D’Urvillo Islands. No passongors woro hurt, and after roombarkation tho steamer came on to Nolson, where sho was dotained for further examination and onquiry to morrow. Tho oflioors doolinod to givo any information, which was obtained from passongers. The passongors spoak highly of tho conduct of Captain Hull and offfoors of tho ship.
