BOWLING.

CONCLUSION OF TOUBNAMENT. The Northern Association's bowling tournament was brought to a successful conclusion on Saturday, on all sides it being admitted that the gathering had proved the most enjoyable on record. The weather continued fine to the close, and the arrangements throughout wore excellent. Saturday morning was devoted to a trial of strength between the dubs of the A and B sections, and an interesting contest resulted in favor of the former by six games to five, tho scores being 218 to 207. Patea defeated Hawora by 24 to 23, and Bemucra beat Petone by 27 to 11. Napier made a poor show against Wanganui, scoring only 11 to their opponents’ 25. A close and exciting game between Dannovirko and To Bau saw the Gisborne team victorious by a point. Haiti easily defeated Boclsy Nook by 24 to 10, and Whataupoko beat Auckland by 19 to 11. Feilding scored 18 to Masterton’s 16, whilst SVelliugton ware defeated by Mount Eden to tho tune of 26 to 17. The match botweeu Hastings and Ponsonby was oloso, the former winning by a point. Greonmeadows brought off a surpriso against Carlton, whom they defeated by 24 to 18. Gisborno had a close game with Victoria, winning by 20 to 15.

PBEBENTATION OF PBIZES. The presentation of prizes took place on the gveon at tho conclusion of tho above matches, in the presence of a large gathering of bowlers and visitors. The prizes wore presented by the President, Mr J. A. Harding, who highly oulogised the play of the Gisborne men. In addition to championship honors, the Gisborno team also won tho four handsome pieces of silver plate presented by Mr J. Kirker. The gold medals for the highest aggregate scores were also presented to the members of the Whataupoko team. At the close cheers were given for tho Gisborno team, tho President or the Club, and the ladies.

DEPABTUBE OF BOWLEBS. There was a large gathering at tho wharf at half-past 12, and tho Auckland bowlers wore accorded a most enthusiastic send-off, as also wore the Southern bowlers last evening. GISBOBNE V, GBEENMEADOWS. THE LOCAL TEAM DEFEATED. Considerable interest was taken in tho match botween Gisborne and Greenm,oadowa arranged for Saturday afternoon. The visitors were in fine form, and playing consistently throughout wore ablo to register b\ win against the local rink, the scores being 30 to 15. The members of the winning team were 1 the recipients of cunoh ongratulatiou on their victory.
