In the even- | iog they were entertained et the Maaonio I Hotol by the Auckland Choristers, who gave an enjoyable programme from the balcony. A very large orowd of the general poblio assembled on the road, and also [ had the pleasure of listening to the concert. Yesterday about thirty of the bowlers Ware driven to the residence of Mr. lan I Simson, President of; the Wbataupoko Bowling Club. They were all charmed With the beantifnl view to be obtained I from the loftily situated “ Retreat.” After I a friendly ohat and. partaking of Mr I Slmson’s hospitality, the party (in. three I brekoa) proceeded into the country and | hod a very' pleasant drive. I

The Northern representatives were welcomed on their arrival last evening by the recaption committee appointed by the olnb. THE AUCKLAND TEAMS.

By the Tarawera last evening the Anokland teams arrived, and it is pleasing’ to note that no lass than six rinkp, 'will be found representing the Northern city in the championship fours competition. The teams are as follow :- ' r

! ' Anokland :• J. L. Steele,-E. O. Craig, G. Easton, W. Lyons (skip). Carlton (Newmarket): J.' Anderson, A. Nixon, O. G, Laurie. J. 8. Kilgour (skip). Mt Eden : Johnston, G, Tull, H. Bankin, W. Mercer (skip), Ponsonby,: J. J. Payne, O. R; Robinson, E. Ifwerson, W. H. Levalas (skip). Bemuera: H. Kent, J. N. Bishwortb, W. N. Molntosh, W. Dingwall (skip). Rocky Nook : J. L. Wakerley, F. Elliedom, G. Fletoher, H. C. Haselden (skip). "' THE GISBORNE TEAMS.

Gisborne .will be represented by four links, from the Gisborne, Kaiti, Whataupoko, and Te Ban Clubs respeotively. The Gisborne Club’s team inolndes Messrs Martin, Coleman, Massey, and Ponsford (skip), and is without doubt the strongest quartette ever put into the field by the Clnb. They ehonld be well np at the close of the tournament.

Whataupoko ha 3 a strong combination, the final selection being Corson, Niohoias, Seymour, and Simson (skip), and this quartette Bhould give a good acconnt of themselves.

Kelt! were somewhat late in patting a team In the field, bnt tbs team eeleoted by Witty are all good exponents of the game. Robertson was the Gisborne champion of last year, and Lomax and Ambridge, the other members, have shown excellent form daring the season. The team entered for the Te Ban Club comprised Stewart, Balneavis, Harris, and Gaudin (skip). There is a possibility of Balneavis not being able to play to-day, in which case either the Hon. Jamoa Carroll or W. J. Hennessy will fill the vacancy. Efforts were made to neoure the services of Humphreys, one of the ohampions at the last tournament held in Gisborne, but unfortunately be could not play. The Te Bau team will play their opening game against Mount Eden, and in the third round against Whatanpobo. The latter game should attract considerable local interest.

It is probablo there will bo a slight rearrangement of the games for to-day, as the New Plymouth end Pabiatua teams have hot arrived.
