Besolved: That until snob time as payment oi teachers’ salaries is placed upon a different basis, all half-holidays on whioh the attendance is less than 66S per cent of the roll number for the time being should be omitted from calculation of average attendance. r ” *;;
Resolved: That the time has arrived for tbe payment of teaohers to be placed upon Borne other basis than that of average attendance.
Resolved; That the introdaotion of religious instruction into the sohool syllabus is not desirable.
Resolved: That the seoretary oi the New Zealand Educational Institute be instructed to ascertain what is the.praotioe in other countries with regard to daily or 'other inspection of schools by medioa! men dnly authorised (a) to deal with oases among scholars of sickness and infeotious disease, or (b) to grant leave of absenoe to children not in a fit state to attend school, or (c) to examine children .that the teacher has reason to believe are mentally deficient, or suffering from deafness, defective vision, nose or throat trouble, eto. ' Resolved: That . the Government be asked to issue to teachers railway tiokets at excursion faros during the currency of recognised sohool holidays. Resolved: That in view of the agitation that is taking place throughout the polony in favor of practical agriculture being taught in primary schools/ the "New Zealand Educational Institute be requested to collect data from England, Canada, and the United States as to what is being done in the teaohing of practical agriculture iu the primary schools.
