To day was an off day at the exhibition, though a large number visited it. The sports attracted a good attendance, and were successful. The principal events resulted: —
Half mile handicap: Arnott (70 yds) 1, Bowler (45 yds) 2, Watters (45 yds) 3 ; time I" min. 57 sec.
120 yds final handicap : H. L. Abbott (7£ yds) 1, Murray (7 yds) 2, 0. Marsh (10 yds) 3. A good race. Time 12 secs. Mile bicycle race: Anderson (5 yds) 1, Brunnette (12 yds) 2. Ward (19 yds) 3. Time 2 min. 41 sec,
120 yds hurdles : H. L. Abbott (1 yd) 1, B. Murray (2 yd) 2, \lf. Morgan (8 yd) 3. Time 17 sec.
220 yds handicap : Murray (14 yds) 1| Gladding (12 yds) 2, Egan (17 ydß) 3. Time 2 min 3 2-5 sec.
One mile handioap : O. Wilson (80 yds) 1, F. Bellshaw (90) 2, L. Ward (60 yds) 3. Won by a yard. Timo 4mm 28 sec. 440 yds ame.teur handicap : A. L. Stohr (25 yds) 1, L: B. Webster (sor) 2. Time, lmin 3 1-6 sac. j
When the Mayor of New Plymouth went round tbe town to secure guarantors for the exhicition, ho got signatures for £2OOO in two day, and there were only two refusal!] to subscribe.
