EDUCATIONAL MATTERS.
(Per Press Association.) Christchurch, last night. A telegram from the Premier was read at a meeting of tho Education Board to tho effect that ho intended sending an officer to report on tho protest made against tho site solected by the Board for a°school at Kincaid Downs. Mr Hardy, M.H.8., protested strongly against political wire pulling entering into tho selection of school sites, and stated that tho Premier, with whom ho talked on the subject of Kincaid Downs site, expressed perfect satisfaction with the action of the Board, and told them to go nhead, as it was impossible to satisfy everybody. Mr Hardy expressed astonishment at tho Premier souding such a telegram. The Board decided to forward to the Department tho correspondence connected with the subject. The Education Board to day considered a letter from Father Lo Menant Des Chosnais, Vicar-General, who urged the Board to reconsider its former decision, and send inspectors to examine Catholic schools. Tho Board decided to refer to a committee the whole question of examination of private sohoois.
