Rep.ying to a correspondent, who con-plained of the disadvantages British life insurance companies experienced in the colonies compared with a colonial company in Britaui. Mr Chamberlain stated that such a question would be properly discussed when negotiations began with the colonies relative to mutual preferential treatment.
MR CHAMBERLAIN AND THE COLONIES. By. Electric Telegraph—Per Press (Special to Times), Received 10.9 p.m., Dec. 29. LONDON, Dee. 29. The Westminster Gazette says that while Canada and Australia do not reduce their tariffs sufficient to enable British goods to enter the markets on terms of greater equality than tile present, they do not, conform to Mr 'Chamberlain’s declarations at the last Colonial Conference. The Gazette insists that the Colonial Agent.s-General ought to keep free from fiscal controversy.
