TE KARAKA SPORTS.
There was a good attendance at the sports held at Te Karaka on Boxing Day, in aid of the Church of England and Catholic Church. All tho evonts woro well contested, especially the horse-jumping and wood chopping competitions. Following are tho results Maiden Race, 150yds: Dandy 1, Eru 2. Wood chopping competition, 18in block : P. Ford, scr., 1, Watson 2, Rodgers 3. High-jump : Eru 1, Chambers 2. Te Karaka Handicap, 100 yds ; Eru 1, Gammock 2, Sefton 3.
Handicap Hurdles, 220 yds: Simson 1, Ingram 2. Veteran’s Handicap, 150yds: Cassidy 1, Brown 2. Te Karaka Handicap, 220 yds : Eru 1, Gammock] 2, Sefton 3. Half-mile Handicap : T. Sharp 1, Morris 2.
Bicyclo Race, 1 mile: C. Kirk 1, A. Murtagh 2; won by six inches. Te Karaka Handicap, 440yds: Gammock 1, Sefton 2, Eru 3. Boys Eace, 100yds : Cassidy 1. Leaping Competition for horses : A. McKenzie’s Sailor 1, Surrender 2. The Te Karaka Handicap was won by Eru with 12 points, Ganunock being second with 11, and Sefton third with 7.
