Tho average price of Canterbury mutton is 8, 7 .d to 4d per lb ; for Dunedin. Southland and Wellington Meat Export Company’s, 3};d per lb ; other North Island brands, B£d ; ewes, 2|d to 3d per lb ; River Plato Mutton, 3d to 8/;d per lb ; Australian mutton, 8d per lb. Thero is no alteration in the lamb market since last week. Tho beef market is firmor. Tho average prico of hindquarters of New Zealand beef is 3 8-Bths por lb, forequarters 2£d to \2 3-Bths per lb. Tho butter market is rather unsettled owing to the expectation of heavy arrivals increasing the demand for the bettor grades. Choicest New Zealand is 102 s por lb, Australian 100 s, Argentine 98s to 100 s, Danish 114 s, Siberian 945. The cheese market is quiet, but there is a better undertone. Tho Papanui is discharging choose. Canadian is at 52s to 53s per cwt. The hemp market is steady. Good fair Wellington (grade on spot is at £32 10s to £33 per ton ; fair current Manila is quotod at £4O por ton. Cocksfoot seed markot: Bright, olean New Zealand, weighing 171 b per bushel on spot, is at 52s per cwt.
