Mr W. Cook, the owner of the sunken schooner Jessie Nicol, who is leaving for Wellington this evening, states that there s no insurance or, ;the vessel or cargo. At a meeting of the Board of (~,overnors of the Canterbury Co’,lege, tne College Committee reported that it was impossible to make final recommendations under the Secondary Schools Act, 19C3, until the Government Gazette contaitied rosoluLions thereunder. Th-e Committee recommended the Board should coni' under Clause IV. of the Act, and offer scbolarshipis of an annual value of .€520 to boys proposing to alpend the High School, this amount being one-fifth of the net annual income derived from endowments. With regard to the Girls’ School the Board was recommended to apply to the Government, for funds for the erection of additional buildings. After a long discussion, consideration of the report was (adjourned.
