FIRE AT DUNEDIN.

Dunedin, last night. A fire broke out in McLeod Bros., Limited’s, soap and candle works, in Cumberland street, about 9.30, and before being extinguished considerable damage was done. The building is of three storeys, and is built of brick. The flames, which broke out in the press room, were confined to that department, in which a very large quantity of stearine and new machinery was totally destroyed. It was impossible to ascertain exact amount of damage. Tbe insurances amount to £4OOO, spread in offices, but the details are not available. The fire is not expected to interfero with business. Tho roof of A. and T. Burt’s foundry, adjoining, was damaged to some extent, and some machinery injured. The firm iB covered by insurance.
