HORTICULTURAL SHOW.

AN ATTRACTIVE EXHIBITION.

Tho Horticultural Society hold their - Summer Show yesterday afternoon and . evening, tho function proving in evory . way an unqualified success. Tho season being a most favorable ono an excollont display of flowers was made, whilst tho ■ exhibits of fruit and vegetables were much superior, both in regard to quantity und quality, to any previous Show. The arrangements for the Show were all that could bo aesirod, and rellectod tho utmost credit upon thoso who assisted in making the gathering such a success. Messrs G. T. Bull and Darton are to be congratulated upon tho largo and choico assortment of fruit, vegetables, flowers, etc., which decorated the Theatre Royal, and turned it for the time being into a vision of fairyland. The pot plunts vtere a fine exhibition, and attracted a considerable amount of attention. Mr F. Tnnsley was a large prize-taker in this class, and had some I splendid exhibits. A fine rhyncospermum, | a cycad, revoluta palm, ornamental asparagus, aDd various maidenhair and

hanging ferns roceived a largo share of praise. Cut flowers occupied a prominent position, and their stand was usually surrounded by an admiring throng. Sweet peas hold prido of place opposite the entrance, and was a fiuo exhibit. Tho industrial and art classes wero represented, and contained fine exhibits. This exhibit deserves a line to itself, as the vegetables displayed wore much ahoad of anything produced by amateurs. His carrots, turnips, radishes, tomatoes, and marrows were brought to a stato of perfection, and showed that Mr Wong King is a mastor at his art. Tho table decoration came in for its usual supply of admiration and criticism. One table decorated by Mrs Redstone was awarded first prize, and auothor by Mrs Reynolds was much admired.
