TOWN V. COUNTRY.
Great excitement prevailed on Wednesday afternoon at the Tennis Courts, Haiti, when the Town ladies, captained by Miss McCredie, met in a friendly matoh for the first time, the country ladies being captained by Mrs H. N. Watson. The country team proved itself much superior to the Town team, and gained an easy viotory; nevertheless some very good games resulted, and some very tough battles were fought. Mesdames Watson and Carmichael were in excellent form, and scored heavily for the Country side, not losing a game. Those formidable antagonists slaughtered their opponents wholesale ; their swift serves and smashing drives making Bhort work of those poor unfortunates with whom they came in oontaot. The Misses McCredie, however, stood to their guns well, and were only beaten by one game in eaoh set. Those two ladies soored well for the Town side, and in their turn made Bhort work of the Country players. Misses C. Boylan and F. Adamß managed to hold their own with all except the invinoibie Mesdames Watson and Carmiohael, Their gomes resulted in a tie with the Misses .Reynolds and the Misses B, and M. Bradley, and a win against the Misses A. and E. Bradley. All these players ploy a good game; placing well and driving good hard balls, The following are the results Ist Bound: Mrs Watson and Carmichaol beat Misses C. Boylan and F. Adams 6—l, 6—2 ; Misses B. and M. Bradley beat Misses Adair and Maofarlane 6—o, 6-0; Misses A. and E. Bradley boat Miss Boylan and Mrs Seymour 6—l, 6 —4 ; Misses McCredie beat Misses Reynolds 6—o, 6—l, 2nd Round; Mrs Watson and Mrs Carmiohael beat Miss Boylan and Mrs Seymour 61, 6—l; Misses Boylan and Adams tied Misses B. and M. Bradley 6—4, 4—6 ; Misses MoCredie beat Misses A. and E. Bradley 6—l, 6—2 ; Misßes Reynolds beat Misses Adair and lilacfarlane 6—2, 6—3, 3rd Round: Mrs Watson and Mrs Carmichael beat Misses MoCredie 6—5, 6-5; Misses B. and M. Bradloy beat Miss Boylan and Mrs Seymour 6 —B, 6—2; Misses Boylan and Adams tied with the Misses Reynolds 6—5, 5—6; Misses A. and E. Bradley beat Misses Adair and Maofarlane 6—o, 6—o. 4th round; Mesdainos Watson and Carmiohael beat Misses Adair and Maofarlane 6—o, 6—o; Misses MoCredie beat Misseß B. and M. Bradley 6-1, 6—2; Misses Boylan and Adams beat Misses A. and E. Bradley 6—2,4—6; Misses Reynolds beat Miss Boylan and Mrs Seymour 6—2,6-4.

The country members must bo congratulated on their good ploy, which has created so much enthusiasm and so great a dosire to excel in the town players, that the former will have to look to their laurels next time the latter have the pleasure of meeting them. 1 Afternoon tea completed a very pleasant and exciting afternoon, and was much appreciated by the players after their vigorous exertions,
