The reporf of Mr Shaw, United States Secretary of the Treasury and Congress, estimates the surplus lor the year at 14 million dollars. Tho revenue for 1905 is estimated at 704£- million dollars, showing an estimated deficit of 25 million dollars. Tho total steerage alien immigrants to tho United States for the year ended June is 857,046, a record. United States shipping aggregated upwards of six million tons and the imports for tho year one thousand and twenty-five hundred million seven hundred and nineteen thousand two hundrod and thirty-seven dollars, and the exports one thousand four hundred and twenty million one hundred aud forty-one thousand six hundred and seventy-nine dollars. The population is 80 million.
