MR IRVINE CONSENTS TO RETAIN POSITION.

Mr Irvine met the members of the Ministerial party. He stated that in view of the -warmly expressed desire that he should retain tho Premiership, and Mr Shields undertaking to rolieve him of some of the duties of treasurer and other responsibilities, he saw his way clear if re-elected to lead the Government through the next election and the following Parliament. It
is understood that he intends to devote a portion of his time to practice at the bar.
