On approaching the first beacon Kirk had übout a quavtor of a length to the good, and on passing under too bridge the advantage had boon increased to a length. Fox's crew, who woro maintaiuiug a good stroke, now began to overtuko tbo leaders, for ut the jotiy they had slightly diminished the distance separating tho two boats, and when rounding the bend were within three-quarters of a length of their opponenls. In responso to the call of their strokes both crows spurted, and a hard-fought tussle to the post resulted. Though pulling well, Fox's crew wore unablo to overtake the leaders, Kirk’s atevi winning all out by half a length. E. Luttroll ,eo*.waiued tko winners, and S.
