Tho Poverty Bay Rowing Club brought thoir four-oar races to a last evening, when the final was decidod on the Taruhoru river, between A, W. Kirk, otr F. Fox, atr

A. Oxonbam, bow W. Pritchard, bow Both Crews got away well togother, but Kirk’s crew, pulling a moro decisive stroke, woro not long in obtaining a lead. On approaching the first beacon Kirk had übout a quavtor of a length to the good, and on passing under too bridge the advantage had boon increased to a length. Fox's crew, who woro maintaiuiug a good stroke, now began to overtuko tbo leaders, for ut the jotiy they had slightly diminished the distance separating tho two boats, and when rounding the bend were within three-quarters of a length of their opponenls. In responso to the call of their strokes both crows spurted, and a hard-fought tussle to the post resulted. Though pulling well, Fox's crew wore unablo to overtake the leaders, Kirk’s atevi winning all out by half a length. E. Luttroll ,eo*.waiued tko winners, and S.
