POVERTY BAY BOWING CLUB’S

TBIAL FOUBS.

Tho trial fours hold by the Poverty Bay Bowing Club were continued last evening, the heat decided being between

A, W. Kirk, str AIF. Pritchard, atr Y. Somervell, 3 •!. Brooking, 3 F. Pearson, 2 P. Lynch, 2 A. Oxenham, bow Len Tate, bow A splendid start was effected, both crews taking tbo water well together. After a short distance had been traversed, Kirk’s crew secured a slight lead, which they gradually increased. Passing under the footbridge, Kirk’s boat bad about half a length to tho good, and rowing well together passed the jotty with a clear lead. Pritchard’s crow strained every muscle to overtake the leaders, Rnd though they repeatedly spurted they wore unable to get on lovel terms, Kirk’s crew eventually winning by about three-quarters of a length, E. Lultrcll steered Kirk’s crow to victory, while Pritchard’s crew was coxswained by S. Tate. This evening tho final will bo decided, when a good contest should ensue. The opposing crews are; A. W. Kirk (str), V. Somervell (3), F. Pearson (2), A. Oxenham (bow) and F. Fox (atr), J. Morrissey (3), A. McCouuell (2), W. Pritchard (bow).
