Thus tho Auckland Observer on the Auokland members of Parliament: —Auckland is notorious for members who, on tho same principle, run with the hare and hunt with the hounds. They pose as independent men, and talk fairly independently, but, when it comes to a straight out voting issue, they follow obediently at the heels of Mr Seddon into whichever lobby he chooses to go. Mr Baume is a case in point. Elected as an independent member, his independence is solely its his platform speeches, and never in his voting or division in the House. Mr Alfred Aidd furnishes another example. When he was elected, he was going to keep Mr Seddon in check, and he haß been cringing at the Seddonian heels ever since,
