TEE YACHT KIA-ORA.
ARRIVES IN GISBORNE TO DAY,
During her visit t-o Gisborne tho yacht Kia-ora will bo open for public inspection at a small chargo. The vessel passed the East Capo at 11.45 yesterday morning, and should makb this port at daylight today. On arrival Captain Buckeridgo will bo met by Mr T. Franks, who is making arrangements for exhibiting the small craft. In all probability the llia-ora will bo open for inspection to-morrow afternoon, and should attact a large crowd of visitors. Tho Kia-ora is a 24-ton yacht, built in Auckland by Messrs Bailey and Lowo for Captain Buckeridgo, who proposes sailing from Gisborne for London direct, afterwards proceeding to tbo St. Louis exhibition. Tho yacht is New Zealand’s representivo cratt for the world’s record for small boat ocean navigation, and whilst in Auckland was the subjoct of much public attention, there being several thousand persons to farewell her. After her first departure from Auckland the Kia-ora had tho misfortune to fall in with a heavy north-east gale, and whilst making for shelter sho missed stays, and Captain Buckeridgo,. in order to save tho yacht . decided to run her ashore. Tho boat was taken back to Auckland and the damage repaired, and now sho is once again on her loDg journey.
