OVALAU ENQUIRY.

NO BLAME ATTACHED. By Telegrapii—Press Association—Copyright Received 10.7 p.m., Nov. 12 Sydney, Nov. 12. The Marino Court has opened an enquiry into tho Ovalau disaster. Captain Todd and officers were unable to throw any light on the cause of the fire. Tho Ovalau was well ventilated. The cargo was shipped dry. Their experience proved chat copra was uot liable to spontaneous combustion. Expert evidence was given to .the same effect. Tho President adjourned the enquiry for a wock to obtain further expert opinion. He said there wus no blame attachable to Captaiu Todd or anyone connected with the Ovalau.

McKenzie ; boys, J. F. Scott, W. Waltkinson, A. G. Patterson.

(VESSEL TO BE ABANDONED.

.'(Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, last night.

It is most probable that the wrecked vessel Ben Avon will he abandoned to the underwriters. The amount of insurance on the cargo and hull is not known yet, A steamer leaves port at 2 a.m.; for Oapc Palliser and will bring Captain Dixon and crew, •and the body of the late Captaiu McKinnon, up to Wellington. An inquest Was to be conducted yesterday by' 'a Justice of tne Peace at Whatarangi touching Captain McKinnon’s death.
