TOKO MARTI BAY. (From Our Own Correspondent.) A meeting was held on tho 26th of October in connection with the Boxrng Day’s sports, Mr H. H. Faiilie being elected secretary, and a strong committee was appointed to carry through the sports. On the 31st of October tho Cricket Club’s annual meeting was held, tho previous year’s report aod balance sheet was read and adopted. Mr F. Williams was re-elected President, and Messrs Hindmarsh, E. R. Murphy, J. McGavin, G. Cotterill, Mill, Buchanan, Jamison, A. H. Wallis, R. Kemp, W. D. S. Macdonald, Dr Davis, and the Hon. J. Carroll were all duly elected Vice-Presidents. Mr H. H. Fairlio was re-elected captain, and W. Oates senior secretary and treasurer. Shearing has commenced everywhere, and wool is coming in daily by waggons. Messrs Wilson Bros, have secured most of the wool-carting and Mr A. C. Forrester tho balance. Feed is more plentiful than it has been

for years. Bushfeiling is about finished, and several parties havo como in during the last two weeks, as an instance of what lino weather, perseverance, and hard work can accomplish three mon undertook to fell one hundred and soventy acres of very heavy bush out beyond the Motu, and the task was accomplished in eighteen and ahalf weeks; an accident caused one of tho party to loose a fow days, and one man lost a week at another time, this will take some beating round this way. The next week's report will contain an account of tho first European wedding held in Tokomaru since 1880.

The Waiapu County Council havo a lot of work on hand getting the roads in order for the wool-carting, Messrs McCracken, O’Shea, and McNamarra each beiDg in charge of a party. The drowning accident here off the Herald was a very sad affair. The victim, the well-known chief steward, took a header off tho steamer with the intention of having a bathe, ho was seen from tbe ship to como to tbe surface rubbing bis faco with bis hand, and then to suddenly disappear and was never seen again. An effort was made to find the body by dragging etc., but was of no avail. The King’s Birthday was celebrated here by holding a monster picnic, tbe Church of England choir had the affair in hand, and with Mrs McGavin at the head success was assured.
