The County Council have imported from Dunedin an improved road plough of great strength, which has been used with good effect on the Burnside road (says the Wairoa Guardian). It is gauged to plough an ir.ch or a foot deep, and to take off hillocks on the route, thus making a much better road. Mr Simpson, who is in charge of the road machine, considers the plough will greatly facilitate the work of the machine, and pay, for itself in two months.
Arrangements are being made for the 's.s. Waihi to run excursions during the summer from Gisborne to Whangawci (where there is a safe landing) cn route for Morcrc Hot Springs and other tourist resorts in the district (says the Wairoa Guar- , rlian).; Visitors would be met by Mr J. S. Cooper’s five-horse coach, and conveyed to the hot springs, Wairoa, or Waikaremoana. The firsttrip will take place on the 9th of •November. The residents .of Morere are (Uso trying to arrange with Captain Davidson to run the Tangaroa to Wa kokopu several times duriug the summer. With the Waihi from Gisborne and the Tangaroa from Napier, visitors will no doubt he induced to spend holidays at one or other of VVairoa’s resorts, knowing that they can return at a given date if the steamer from Wairoa does not suit their arrangements,
