EAST COAST MOUNTED RIFLES.

SHOOTING COMPETITION,

The fourth course of the sbootiDg competition for the pair of field-glasses presented by. Mr W. A. Hood. to the East Coast Mounted Rifles, was fired off yosterday at'tho rifl.o range. The conditions were seven shots each at 200yds, 500yds, and 800yds, with two optional sighters at each range. The Government targets and scoring were used. On the whole the shooting was satisfactory. Trooper Kinder made the possible at 200yds, but was unable to accomplish anything at the long range. The scores were as follows :

It is the intention of the Mounted Rifles to send a team of twelve men to compete for the Coleman Shield, which is open for competition to all companies in the Hawke’s Bay district. The team will leave Gisborne on November Btb, the firing for the Shield taking place at Waipawa on the 9th prox.
