Three men attempted to stab Prince Golitzin, Governor of Caucasus, while he was driving with his wife at Tiflis. The prince received two stabs in tho head. A Cossack guard pursued and killed the assailants. The inhabitants are indignant, as the prince is popular and solicitous of the welfare of the people.
REASON FOR THE ATTEMPT. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyrifflit Received 12.18 a.m., Oct. 30 London, Oet. 30. l’he Standard’s Vienna correspondent says that the attempt at Tiflis is doubtless duo to the seizure of Armenian church revenues, revolutionaries considering the national property renewable. It is known that Princo Golitzin in 1898 recommendod tho Minister of the Exterior to assume control of church proporty, on tho ground that a large proportion of tho roveuues were devoted to Al’Monlan revolutionary propaganda.
