The report of tho directors of the National Insurance Company for the year ender September 30, shows £IO,OOO added to reserve, and tho amount carried forward increased by a few hundred pounds. Tho directors reeommond tho usual dividend of ninepenee per Bhure. This is a substantial increaso in interest from investments.

After every effort had been made to suit the wishes of probable visitors to secure an early' date for the championship regatta, the Otago Rowiog Association decided to night to fix definitely on March 23. As the Otago Regatta Committee declined to forego the annual fixture on Boxing Day, tho Association were compelled to accept the only available holiday, Otago Anniversary Day.
