(Per Press Association.) Wellington, last night.

George Mudgway, an old age pensioner, aged BS, committed suicide at the Butt this morning by hanging. ' John Wilkie, aged 20, a farm laborer at Tenui, tied his bauds aud feet and threw himsolf into the Wharcuma river and was drowned. Wilfred Lee, farmer, of Otalu, met with an accident while cycling down the Mauukau Hill last night, and diod of concussion of the brain, Argument in tho Appeal Court, m the case of tho Loan and Mercantile v. Reid, which has been going on for ton days, concluded this morning. Judgment was reserved. The nest case taken was an application.for leave to appeal in forma pauperis iu Naujoko v. Begg aud Co., a local case. The only point of general interest about this was a lengthy passage at arms between the Bench and Mr Jcllicoe. The former took exception to a fact which came out that advisory counsel had not seen the Judge’s notes on the case, and could not therefore be iu a position to reasonably advise that this was a proper case for appeal, whereupon Mr Jellicoo delivered some caustic comments on tfte alleged cost of obtaining Judges’ notes. A heated argument ensued, and Mr Jeliicoe declared that the Judges had put their heads together from the beginning to shut him out of tho Court. Pinully the Lench ordered him to sit down, and ultimately ho withdrew his charge, and the case was adjourned in order that counsc-1 might peruse the Judge’s notes, which the Bench stated would bo put at his disposal without oharge.
