D’ARC’S PANTOMIME.
There was a large and appreciative audience at tho Academy of Music last evening to witness the first performancs of D’Arc's Pantomime and Marionette Company. The company includes 16 artists, all marionette manipulators. The puppe a danced, vocalised, and rendered the dialogue to appropriate music, each item being applauded. Tho figures are surprisingly life-like, and beautifully costumed. Last night's programme included the Oriental pantomime “ Blue Beard,” screaming harlequin ride, and comic scenes; also the w.onderful transformation scene 11 A Midsummer Night’s Dream.” The scenery was superb, the many changes being worked with remark able skill, the whole of the side wiDg3 and herders moving ' simultaneously with lightning like effect.. Tho whole fixture is in reality a complete stuge, with curtain footlights, and scenic effects upon the stoge. To night there wili be a change of programme, a’so a matinee on Thursdry afternoon.
