Lord Jersey, acting Agent-General for New South Wales, interviewed; stated that while not claiming, that the financial policy of New South Wales had been altogether wise in the past, he emphasised the proneness of critics to exaggerate Government extravagance. While development works were in progress, it was difficult to achieve a' financial equilibrium. Sixty out of eighty millions of debt would soon be reproductive, and not only pay interest, but would gradually extinguish the principal, and yield a surplus. MURDERER KILLS HIMSELF. A MISSING BARQUE. MELBOURNE, October 23. The missing barque Milton Park, bound for Premantle, was sighted over four months ago, in a raging hurricane, half-way between the Cape and St. Paul’s Island. She is believed to have foundered. REID AND BANNERMAN. SYDNEY, Oct. 23. In reply to the resolution passed by the Freetrade League, and cabled to Sir H. Campbell-Bannerman, pro r testing against Sir E. Barton and Sir John See’s cable to Mr Chamberlain, approving of liis policy, Mr Reid has been informed that Sir H. Campbell-Bannerman expresses gratification at the resolution, and adds: .“ Wo adhere to a revenue tariff.;”
