I The Timber Export Act Amendment Bill tu increase the export duty on timber logs from 3s to os per 100 feet was introduced by Governor’s message. Air Suddon said ho was advised that the extra 2s duty would prevent kauri logs being exported from the colony. The sawmillers had asked for the Bill. The first reading was agreed to on the voices. The Midland Railway Petitions Settlement Act Amendment passed through I Committeo without amendment. The House resumed at 7.30. The Public Loans Renewal Bill, Treasury Bill Extension Bill, Aid to Public Works, and Laud Settlement Bill passed I through Committee without material amendment.
