D’ARC’S PANTOMINE AND MARIONETTE COMPANY.

It is many years since a pantomime and marionette company visited Gisborne, so that the opening performance of the above clever and well known organisation should be looked forward to with some interest. The company is a large one, and they bring with them some 20 tons of scenery and effects. Southern exchanges speak highly of the performances. The gorgeous Oriental pantomime “ Blue Beard ” will be tho opening production; included in which is tho marvellous “ Fantoccino ” (nine characters), the screaming burlesque “ Salvation Army on Parade,” Ye Olde harlequinade and comic scenes, and the magnificent transformation scenes “ A Midsummer Night’s Bream,” or “ The Fairy’s Dell and Home of the Silver Swans.” The whole production is under the stage supervision of Professor F. -T. Barrass, who has been connected with the company for the past 20 years. The company was founded in 1860 by the late Mr Geo. Lambert D'arc, and have just concluded their sixth tour of the world. The management claim that this is the only pantomime and marionette company in the world that has appeared three times (by command) bofore Koyalty. Popular prices, Bs, 2s, and Is are to be charged. A grand speoial illuminated matinee for ladies and ohildren has been arranged for Thursday afternoon, whhn we have no doubt parents will eagerly grasp the opportunity of allowing their cnildron to see such a novel and instructive entertainment. The box plan and day sales will be opened at Miller’s this morning at 10.
