EMPLOYERS’ COHFERENCE.
By Telegraph—Press Association— Wellington, last night.
The Conference of the New Zealand Employers’ Federation opened in Wellington to-day. Representatives were present from Auckland. Hawke’s Bay, Wellington, Marlborough, Canterbury, and Otago. The meetings are being held in committee. A vote cf thanks was passed to the Vigilance Committee for the manner in which it had discharged its functions in regard to certain legislative proposals. A resolution was passed expressing alarm at the continual amendment of labor laws, especially as these amendments take the form of direct interference with employers’ rights, and resolving to use every means to defeat further harassing legislation. It was decided to communicate with the Executive of the Farmers’ Union in regard to this matter, yyith a view to obtaining cooperation in united action. The conference decided that it was desirable to appoint an organising secretary for the federation. Mr G. T. Booth, of Christchurch, was re-elected President.
