A WOMAN’S SUICIDE

Per Press Association. Christchurch, last night. An inquest was held before Mr W. R. Haselden, S.M., to-day, regarding Selina Ashby, who died at the hospital on Tuesday. The medical evidence showed that death had resulted from phosphorous poisoning. Headless matches had been found in the girl’s room prior to her fatal illness. She had been taken into the Christchurch Receiving Home in 1901, and had been licensed out as a servant intermittently. She appeared to have been mentally deficient. The jury returned a verdict of suicide while temporarily insane.
