Petroff, the Bulgarian Premier, speaking at Plrilippopohs, stated that although the situation was very critical, ho bolieved a pacific understanding would bo arranged with Turkey. The Armenian Archbishop of Tifiis, cursed the Czar from the pulpit, declaring him a cruel despot and sacriiigious plunderer of church property. The congregation echoed the cries.

The Cossacks arrested the Arohbishop and knouted the congregation.
