ODDFELLOWS’ ORDER.
(Per Press Association.) Wellington, last night.
The Grandmaster and Board of Diroetors of the New Zealand branch of the Manchester Unity of the Order of Oddfellows hold their half yearly meeting today. It was reported that new lodges had been opened at Mataki (Nelson), Hamilton), Te Awamutu, and Ashburton. Appropriations of the surplus capital by Britannia Lodge (1)2000) and Antipodean Lodgo (£3000) were' approved. On an application from Wellington district for a ruling as to tho appropriation of surplus standing to members’ credit for payment of contributions of brethren in distressed circumstances, the directors decided that tho amount available as an increased funeral benefit couid be applied in payment of sick and funeral contributions only, but no surplus allocated for reduction of members’ future contributions can bo operated on. It was resolved that tho levy for tho current year be fourponco por member. A gold chain of office was presented to tho Grand Master for himself and.successors.
