BOATING ACCIDENT.
FOUR YOUTHS DROWNED.
Per Press Association,
Invercargill, last night. A distressing boating fatality occurred on tho New River estuary ou Sunday evening, resulting in tho drowning of three brothers, George, William, and Thomas Walker, #"js of ex-Constablo Walker, of ages ranging from nineteen to twenty-five years, and William Spence, Thd only -other occupant of tho boat, Alfred Chilman, aged nineteen, after a great struggle, managed to swim ashore, and lay on the beach exhausted till mffiuigbt, when barefooted and with only one garment on, ho •walked up to tov/n. Tho party left in tho morning, unil wort* rnturuiug wiigu & sharp gust of wind struck the sail and the boat filled and sank. The victims were employed in local offices. All wero members of the Mercantile Rifle Corps. Search pactios are now out dragging for the bodies.
