YES-NO REID ON “ THE STUMP.’

Received 1.8 a.m., Oet. 13. Sydney, Oet. 12. Mr Reid opened tho Federal electoral oampaign with a large meeting in the Protestant Hall. He summarised his policy, which is to bring down the tariff to a revenue basis and oppose preferential trade. The Ministerial policy, he said, resulted in putting up an additional wall. Tho Mother Country will find herself groping between two walls, trying to find tho way in.
The State Governor opened the Gundngai to Tumut railway, a length of 31 miles. A largo Parliamentary party was present. Tumut was on fete.
Sir W. Lyne advised Tumut not to get excited ; the Capital Site Bill had still to run the gauntlet of the Senate.
