LONDON MARKETS,

Wellington, last night. The Industries and Commerce Department has received the following cablegram from tho Agent-General, dated London, 26th :—“ Mutton market dull, but holders firm at quotations cabled last week. The lamb market, owing to poor demand, is a shade weaker. The beef market has been unfavorably affected by the forced clearance of River Plate chilled beef, but prices are nominally unchanged. Tho butter market is firm, with an improved demand. The averago prico of choicest New Zealand to-day is 98s to 100 s per cwt, Danish 1235. The cheese market is firm, but the demand is only moderate. Tho averago price of choicest Canadian is 003 per cwt. The hemp market is steady. The price of New Zealand hemp, good fair Wellington grade, on spot to-day is £32 10s, October to December shipments £32. The cocksfoot market 13 firm, but little business doing. Tho average price of bright, clean New Zealand seed, weighing 171 b per bushel, on spot is 50s per cwt. “ At the wool sales tho market is very activo. Crossbreds have further adyansed. Merinos also are hardening.”

Messrs Dalgety and Co. received the following cablegram yesterday afternoon : “ Fair demand for leather and basils, prices unchanged. Good demand for butter, highest value Danish 116 s, stored colonial 90s and 102 s.
