A BLUFF TURMOIL.
(Per Press Association.) Invercargill, last night. An endeavor to have a discussion at the Bluff Harbor Board to-day on the reclamation difficulty with tho Marino Department was blocked, a motion for a special meeting to consider the Board’s resolution with reference to reclamation works being ruled out of order as traversing the Board’s previous actions. Sir J. G. Ward, who had come from Wellington for the meeting, was allowed to make an explanation, the main effect of which was that the proposed reclamation was not on Sir John Coode’s lines. Indeed, it was opposed to his plans, as he proposed a reclamation to the westward, whereas tho Board’s plans provided for works to the east or seaward end of the wharf. He also defended tho Marine Engineera nd the Department. He denied that an understanding such as the Board put forward existed, and that there was any written record of such an agreement. There being nothing before the Board, members had no opportunity to traverse Sir J. G. Ward’s statement.
